Education up against creativity

Creativity is as important as literacy. When we became adults we nearly lost our capacity to create because of what we learn through  education. Our education system is predicted on the idea of academic ability the reason is 19th century's education invented industrialism. In schools we all have same subjects and they are chosen by others and because they do not give any credit to any other subjects apart from Teaching, medicine, engineering etc. When i was in prep. school in Turkey I used to draw pictures of imagined people or Nun's and I used to sing but no more because if you want to be an artist they will be sneering at you and so on...

Hierarchy is rooted in 2 ideas;

1.) we do what we do not like
2.) academic study dominates our ability to create, because universities are designed what they imagined for.

According to UNESCO in 30 years time world wide more people will be graduated from universities. and   will be needed many other qualifications such as MA, BA, PHD etc.

Intelligence is divided into 3 these are;

1.) Diverse - experience, sound, visual...
2.) Dynamic
3.) Distinct

Women's are better in multi-tasking. Sometimes intelligence doesn't came up by itself it needs to be push hard as my elementary school friend used to be only studying now she is pretty good at taking pictures and even she got scholarship from Brighton and she lives in there Plus, she graduated from Istanbul University Business Administration. She followed her dreams.

I wish for our future is to adopt a new conception of human ecology. Human capacity is richer... We can change the whole world if we want to.

' If all the insects were to disappear from the earth within 50 years all life on Earth would end. If all human beings were to disappear all forms would flourish'

  1. Good to see you dig around for some different perspectives on the issue of creativity in education. And a good effort at synthesizing and summarizing (but after you learn how to write a literature review, you will have some ideas of how to make your writing even stronger). You should get into the habit of citing your sources (e.g., the web page where you got the UNESCO prediction, and who influenced you about the hierarchy of education, and the three types of intelligence). Also, I love the quote about the insects at the end--again, you should cite your source (if only a URL).

    Some good attempts at reflection -- creativity in expressing ourselves in song and drawings seems to have been repressed by formal education for most of us. :) Also, I'm not quite sure of your logic or coherence in moving from intelligence types, to the example of your friend following her dreams. But you make an important point about not being channeled by your formal education into a 'dead end' job that you may be good at, but don't actually like or get any satisfaction from.

    Is it your 'dream' to work towards a new "conception of human ecology"? What role can you play as a teacher in realizing your dream?

    1. I may be wrong just I wanted to mention that we have to follow our dreams :)

      If I have student who is able to do certain thing(s) I would help him/her as much as I can ...

  2. I like that you've included some of the different perspectives. Especially your perspective of women being better at multitasking. Keep up the good work :)
